President - Miguel Duarte, Ph.D.
Dr. Miguel Duarte received his degree as an Agronomist with emphasis in Pomology and Viticulture from the University of Sonora, in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. He earned a Master’s Degree in Viticulture & Enology at The University of California, Davis. He also earned a Ph.D. in Horticulture with emphasis in Plant Physiology and Viticulture from The University of Arizona.
Dr. Duarte has over 25 years of professional experience in Viticulture; he has consulted extensively in the domestic and international arenas, with well-known Viticulturist & Enologist such as; Dr. Harold P. Olmo, Dr. Lloyd A. Lider. Dr. Mark W. Kliewer and Wine Microbiologist Dr. Ralph W. Kunkee. He currently consults for large wine and table grape operations in California, Chile, Argentina and Mexico.
He has taught advanced Viticulture and Wine Grape Production at California State University Fresno and has also lectured at the University of California, Davis and at the Pontifica Catholic University in Santiago, Chile.
Dr. Duarte has consulted for the Government of Chile in Viticulture & Enology programs as well as in programs to attract foreign Investment to Chile for the agriculture sector. Dr. Duarte is currently a senior technical Adviser to the State of Sonora Secretary of Agriculture in Mexico in agriculture strategic planning and foreign investment in the Ag-Industry.
He is a published author and his specialties include Tropical Viticulture Management, Plant Physiology, Trellis Systems, Rootstock Selection and Variety Selecting, Table Grape Production, Raisin Production and Wine Grape Production.
MarYsol Duarte - Administration Director
MarYsol joined Duarte & Associates in 2013. MarYsol has been working as an administrator, office manager, and project manager assistant for several housing and real estate companies in the Fresno Area such as; AMACAL Multi-housing Inc. in Fresno, Precision Civil Engineering Inc., Zinkin & Bruce Attorneys at Law., DeWayne Zinkin Development Inc, and Gottschalks Corporation. MarYsol earned her Business Administration Degree with emphasis in Family Law at Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, California in 2002.
Vice President of Marketing - Michael Duarte, MBA, MA.
Michael applies his business knowledge and strong research background to his consulting work at Duarte & Associates. His extensive research and travel in Asia and Latin America has led to an understanding of globalization and its effect on today’s competitive world. He leverages tools from organizational design and strategy development to create conditions for leadership and innovation to emerge in companies and industries.
He's a catalyst for helping his clients achieve breakthrough results in capturing new revenue opportunities, strengthening their brand, reducing costs, and other forms of growth and profitability. He brings a decade of experience in helping companies create long term competitive advantage through skills in clarifying direction, planning for action and improving team effectiveness. Leading engagements focused on new market entry, supply chain, organizational redesign, culture change, etc., has led him to conclude that sustainability has taken a seat at the table of those who aspire to long term organizational health and performance.
He completed his undergraduate degree in Management and Organizational Development and holds a Masters of Arts degree in both Leadership and Organizational Studies and a Masters in Business Administration with focus in global strategy. Mr. Duarte is currently a Doctoral candidate in Organizational Leadership at Pepperdine University.
Vice President of Operations - Jose J. Duarte, Agricultural Engineer
Jose Duarte earned his degree as an Agronomist with emphasis in Pomology and Viticulture from the University of Sonora, in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. He received his Viticulture & Enology Training at The University of California, Davis. His area of expertise is concentrated in general Horticulture with emphasis in Plant Physiology and Viticulture. Duarte worked several years in this research area at the University of Arizona, at Tucson, Arizona. Mr. Duarte has done work in several viticulture regions in different countries such as; Chile, Mexico, Argentina and (California, Washington and Oregon).
Eng. Duarte has participated and lead:
- Clone and rootstock propagation in-vitro and green propagation for the wine Industry in Chile.
- Canopy Management Techniques and Integrated Vineyard Management to improve Wine Quality and Yields following a sustainability program.
- Table Grape Production Techniques and New High density Plantings under the Open -Gable Trellis Systems.
- Co-author of book named: Viticulture Management Practices for Vineyard Managers in California & Chile in Spanish.
- Teaches at Viticulture at several universities including the University of Baja California, Ensenada.
- He is the farming operations Director for the above university responsible for developing a vineyard in the Guadalupe Valley in Baja California for training and demonstration of winegrowers and students.
Jose Duarte has been involved with Duarte & Associates for over 20 years. He has consulted with world renowned Viticulturist and Enologist such as: Dr. Harold P. Olmo, Dr. Lloyd A. Lider, Dr. Mark W. Kliewer and Dr. Ralph Kunkee among others.
