Charles Hossom, M.S.
Masters in Viticulture Science, University of California Davis.
Charlie and Dr. Duarte
have been friends and working and consulted together for more than 30 years in the
Viticulture and enology field. Charlie has worked as director of vineyard
operations for such industry leaders as Ste. Michell, Stags Leap and Snows Lake
He currently is the chairman of the American Vineyard Foundation
Grape Germplasm Breeding Commission, he also sits on the Advisory board of the
Walker Rootstock breeding program. Charlie has received numerous awards for his
efforts in the industry.
Mr. Hossom brings in a
vast wine industry experience form viticulture, wine making and wine marketing
to Duarte & Associates. There are just a few
in the California wine industry that have such a complete circle of scientific,
practical, and hands-on experience and knowledge like Charlie Hossom.
Carlos Lizarraga-Celaya, Ph.D.
Ph.D., Regional Climatology & Micrometeorogy Models, Technological Institute of Sonora.
Has a Bachelor of Science in
Physics from the University of Sonora, and Masters of Science in Physics, from
the National Autonomous University of Mexico - UNAM and in Applied Mathematics,
from the University of Arizona. Holds a Ph.D. from the Technological Institute
of Sonora - ITSON, with emphasis in use of remote sensing applied to regional
climatology, and micrometeorology models.
One area of expertise is in
mathematical modeling and numerical simulations of physical phenomenon in a
wide area of the applied sciences. Has academic experience, research and
teaching at the University of Sonora in the Physics and Computer Science
programs, and Applied Mathematics at the University of Arizona. Product of his research
co-authoring of more than 25 scientific papers, 3 reference books, and 4 book
chapters. Has participated in international conferences in several countries:
US, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Spain, Portugal and Russia.
Dr. Lizarraga has more than 25 years of
experience in consulting and training, in applications of free and open source
software in Information and Communication Technologies, from Unix system and
network administration, to Internet based applications and customer tailored
solutions. A strong area of expertise is in innovations in educational
technology for higher education, focused on design and use of e-learning
technologies for technical training and online distance education programs
Kilby, Michael W, Ph.D.
Ph.D., 1971, Michigan State University Emeritus Professor Extension.
Dr. Kilby is a specialist in plant Science and is widely considered the best pecan specialist in the world. A published author Dr. Kilby was a Professor and a Ph.D. dissertation advisor for Dr. Duarte at The University of Arizona. Dr. Kilby played an important and very influential role in Dr. Duarte's professional career. Dr. Duarte and Dr. Kilby consulted on Pecans in Texas, New Mexico, and in Mexico.
Dr. Kilby has been providing leadership in fruit and nut group for more than 20 years. Dr. Kilby has also been involved in:
- The development of needs for both commercial and urban
- Determined commercial crops which need an organized program
related to grower needs and determine if it is a local, multi-county or state
- Developed projects for crop and county assessments for pecan, pistachio, walnut, tablegrape and winegrapes.
In addition to the above, Dr. Kilby has been involved with the development and implementation of the Arizona Apple,
Pecan, Table Grape,Wine Grape, and Pistachio Grower Associations. He has served on the board of directors of
the Western Pecan Growers Association andthe AZ Pecan and Wine Growers
Association and has coordinate the deciduous fruit and nut report. He has also developed state wide and regional
short courses for wine grapes and pecans over the years.
